WhatsApp has introduced a new feature within its messaging platform that allows users to create stickers from their own photos and share them in chats. Users can create their own sticker by going to the sticker box in chats, then clicking on the “+” icon to choose a photo stored on their device and edit it using various options provided by the tool.
WhatsApp allows users to select the element or person in the sticker while removing the background, similar to external apps that enable sticker creation. Users can also add texts and some expressive drawings. Once the sticker is created, it can be sent within the conversation and also retained in the user’s sticker library for later repeated sending without making the same modifications again.
Any previously made stickers can also be edited by opening the sticker box, long-pressing on the sticker to be changed, and selecting “Edit Sticker.” Stickers are images or animated drawings designed specifically, resembling emojis but larger in size and containing more details. Various types of images can be turned into stickers, and users can create stickers themselves, download ready-made ones from different sources, or keep the stickers sent by other users.
After the availability of the sticker creation tool in WhatsApp, users no longer need to resort to external applications to create their own stickers. It’s worth noting that the sticker creation and editing feature is now available in the WhatsApp application on iPhones running iOS 17 and newer, not yet available for Android devices, but it is expected to be released soon. All users can benefit from the sticker-making tool with many editing options via the “WhatsApp Web” browser version.
In a related context, WhatsApp is also testing another feature that allows users to create stickers using generative artificial intelligence based on models developed by Meta – the app’s owner. This feature is expected to be available soon, as it is still in the testing phase.
