The TRT Turkish Channel Forum has successfully concluded its sessions in Istanbul. While the tragic events in Gaza took center stage, numerous speakers urged for a more equitable international system. Simultaneously, they criticized the United States’ use of the veto to oppose the UN Security Council’s resolution advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Addressing the forum, Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Goktas, emphasized the need to discuss a fairer international system that genuinely upholds universal humanitarian values.
Concerning the Israeli offensive in Gaza, Minister Goktas stated, ‘We are confronting a crisis where not only are humanitarian principles being dismantled, but also human lives are at stake. The situation in Gaza amounts to a genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government against the Palestinians, constituting a ruthless attack on human existence, the right to life, and the prospects of future generations.’
She underscored the urgency of finding innovative approaches to address global crises, asserting, ‘It is evident that the current global system and international institutions, professing to preserve peace and justice worldwide, are falling short in alleviating suffering and providing comprehensive protection for humanity.’
