The Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the safety of children using the internet concluded yesterday without any clear decisions on the horizon, as tensions ran high during the proceedings between Senate members and the executive directors of technology companies, lasting just under four hours.
The hearing included executives from five technology companies, led by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Linda Yaccarino from X, Shou Zi Chew from TikTok, Evan Spiegel from Snapchat, and Jason Citron from Discord.
One of the most notable moments in the hearing was the presence of family members of the victims among the audience, who cheered on Senate members after they reprimanded the executives, especially Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, who directly addressed the crowd, apologizing for the suffering caused by his platform to the families of the victims.
