Abdullah Baaboud, a Professor of Islamic Studies at Qatar University, criticized the inefficacy of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), contending that the Council’s inability to address the Gaza crisis adequately exposes the dominance of major powers. Baaboud underscored the urgency of reforming international organizations such as the United Nations and the UNSC to better align with global humanitarian values. Expressing disappointment in the Council’s failure to act in the face of the grave situation in Gaza, Baaboud called for a reevaluation of the UNSC system and the elimination of the veto power held by five influential nations. He proposed the establishment of new mechanisms to make decisions that genuinely prioritize the protection of humanity.
Baaboud urged the international community to shield Palestinians from what he described as the “Israeli killing machine,” accusing it of attempting to eradicate and displace the Palestinian people based on a historical fallacy propagated by Israelis. He condemned these actions as a moral stain on humanity’s conscience and stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people.
