Meta has initiated the testing of a broad array of AI-driven features across its suite of applications, encompassing Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
According to an official statement, the newly introduced features involve advancements in the capabilities of the Meta AI assistant and the inclusion of 28 celebrity avatars, featuring notable personalities like singer Paris Hilton and rapper Snoop Dogg, accessible to users across Meta’s messaging platforms.
The full potential of Meta’s AI assistant was unveiled subsequent to its initial launch in September, positioning it as a companion for users spanning WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
To interact with the AI assistant, users must create a new conversation and select “Create an AI chat” to commence a private dialogue with Meta AI. Alternatively, users can invoke the assistant in group conversations by typing (@MetaAI) or uttering “Hey Meta” when using Meta glasses.
The assistant excels in text handling, addressing queries related to images, videos, and audio clips, responding to text-based questions, offering web search results via the “Bing” search engine, and generating images through the “Imagine” feature.
For group chats, Meta introduced the “reimagine” feature, empowering participants to collaboratively create and enhance images, providing an interactive experience in image creation.
Meta aims to position its AI assistant as an integrated tool across its diverse product offerings, aiding users in discovering new content and actively learning about different industries.
As an example, if a user wishes to explore places in Tokyo, the assistant will showcase short “Reels” videos for the user to view and gain insights into these locations.
The AI assistant brings forth numerous features for users of the world’s largest social network, Facebook, including assistance in composing posts, crafting birthday greetings for friends, and aiding in the setup of an account on the dating service “Facebook Dating” or the creation of discussion groups.
Meta introduced the “Expander” feature to stories, facilitating the transformation of horizontal images into vertical ones for a superior display when filling the screen, leveraging artificial intelligence.
Meta has endowed its personal assistant with the capability to support content creators in responding to and interacting with their audience. The company is presently testing the AI-powered automatic replies feature for direct messages on Instagram. The assistant analyzes the message, generates suggested replies in the content creator’s style, allowing for swift response selection.
Meta recently launched its new platform, “Imagine with Meta,” an independent web platform enabling image creation through text commands. The platform relies on Meta’s intelligent model, Emu, previously employed in the “Imagine” feature for designing images within chats with Meta AI.
The new platform is currently accessible on the web and smartphones within the United States initially.
Meta clarified that the new celebrity chatbots are exclusive to the United States and are supported by capabilities to furnish users with updated responses based on the Microsoft Bing search engine. Some of these chatbots, such as Billie, Carter, Scarlett, Zach, Victor, Sally, and Leo, will feature long-term memory capabilities, allowing them to recollect information and details from prior conversations with users, enhancing the human-like nature of interactions.
