According to recent reports, the newly rolled-out iOS 17.2.1 update for iPhones, designed to tackle battery life issues, seems to be causing connectivity headaches with cellular networks.
Numerous complaints have flooded the Apple Support forum, with iPhone users expressing frustration over their inability to establish connections with cellular networks.
As per the Apple Support forum, a multitude of users shared their experiences of facing difficulties connecting to their network providers after installing the iOS 17.2.1 update on their iPhones, attributing it to some sort of error.
This predicament significantly impacts the functionality of iPhones, rendering users incapable of making phone calls or accessing the internet through cellular data—core features of the device.
One user detailed their experience, stating, “I’m using T-Mobile as my service provider. I reached out to their technical support and even visited the store. They swapped out the SIM card twice, first with an eSIM card and then with an entirely new one in the store. There’s no VPN profile involved. However, there’s still no network connection—just a feeble internet signal on the phone. More often than not, I receive a message prompting me to activate cellular data with my service provider.”
Apple had introduced the iOS 17.2.1 update for iPhones with the intention of addressing various issues, including resolving battery drain problems in specific iPhone models.
To tackle the connectivity issue, some iPhone users have suggested various solutions, such as resetting network settings or performing a factory reset. While the former retains all files and applications, the latter wipes the phone’s contents clean.
Another suggested solution involves deleting any VPN profile, with some users claiming that removing the VPN profile resolved the cellular network error.
If none of these solutions prove effective, users might have to wait until Apple releases iOS 17.2.2 or iOS 17.3 in the early months of 2024.
