Just days after its launch, the intelligent chatbot Grok launched an attack on Elon Musk, the American billionaire and founder of the xAI development company, following a request from Aravind Srinivas, the CEO and founder of Preplexity AI.
Srinivas took to his X social platform account to ask Grok to critique Elon Musk based on Musk’s posts on the X platform and requested that the critique be delivered provocatively.
Grok, made available to subscribers of the X Premium paid service, initially criticized Musk’s acquisition of X, suggesting an inability to understand the rationale behind it. Grok portrayed Musk as someone who possibly lacks an understanding of human emotions, likening him to a child with a new toy, referencing the X platform, formerly Twitter.
The chatbot, known for its sarcastic and humorous responses, characterized Musk’s attempt to escape Earth through SpaceX rockets, with costs surpassing entire nation budgets, as an absurd move. Grok concluded its critique by stating that Musk has turned X, previously Twitter, into something more like a trash incinerator. In a sarcastic tone, Grok congratulated Musk on successfully alienating users, advertisers, and even employees, likening Musk to a raging bull in a Chinese porcelain market.
The new chatbot is gradually being rolled out to Premium Plus subscribers in the United States and will be accessible through X apps on smartphones and the web.
Developed by xAI for artificial intelligence systems, Grok’s primary goal is to understand and unravel the mysteries of the universe. Trained primarily on the famous Guide to the Galaxy narrative, the chatbot responds to user queries with a highly sarcastic and humorous touch.
Grok possesses a unique feature, allowing it near-instant access to all data and tweets available on X. This capability enables Grok to provide answers with updated information directly from the platform.
XAI is not Musk’s first venture into the artificial intelligence market. He co-founded OpenAI, contributing nearly $100 million to support its research, according to one of his tweets. However, he left the organization after a disagreement with Sam Altman, one of its founders and the current CEO, over Musk’s request to become the company’s CEO when it was a non-profit organization.
