Get Ready to Venture Into the Jungle For a while, rumors circulated about Fortnite’s jungle-themed map, but now, thanks to Epic’s official reveals and some leaked information, we have confirmation that it’s happening—and it’s happening tomorrow. On June 9th, the Fortnite Wilds update will be available on all platforms worldwide.
Fortnite’s Twitter account has been showcasing images of new characters and skins making their debut in Chapter 4, Season 3. Among them are popular figures like Optimus Prime, the mullet-sporting Meowscles, and a fresh-faced group known as Era, Trace, Rian, and Lorenzo.
Fortnite, developed by Epic Games and launched in 2017, offers players three distinct game modes: Fortnite Battle Royale, Fortnite: Save the World, and Fortnite Creative. Battle Royale is a free-to-play game mode where up to 100 players fight to be the last one standing. Save the World combines tower defense, shooter, and survival elements, allowing up to four players to team up against zombie-like creatures. Fortnite Creative gives players the freedom to build and design their own worlds and arenas.
While Save the World and Battle Royale were initially released as early access titles in 2017, Creative mode was introduced on December 6, 2018. While all versions have been successful, Fortnite Battle Royale has become a global phenomenon, attracting over 125 million players in less than a year and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in monthly revenue. As of December 2019, Fortnite as a whole had amassed a staggering $9 billion in gross revenue.
Save the World is available on Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while Battle Royale and Creative are available on those platforms as well as Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. The game also launched alongside the ninth-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
