Elon Musk, the owner of X platform (formerly Twitter), visited the X social media platform, accused by Israeli authorities of allowing anti-Semitic messages on its platform. Musk visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp yesterday, Monday, stating, “The tragedy of the Holocaust strikes you much more in the heart when you see it in person,” according to the Associated Press.
Musk took a tour of the most famous extermination camps established by Nazi Germany during World War II before attending a conference on anti-Semitism organized by the European Jewish Association in the nearby Polish city of Krakow.
Describing himself as “naive” about the extent of anti-Semitism until recently, Musk said that this was because most of his friends are Jewish, and he did not see any impact of anti-Semitism in his surroundings.
Musk stated during the conference in a discussion with Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, “In the circles I move in, I see almost no anti-Semitism.” He added, “No, I have almost two-thirds of my friends who are Jewish, I have fewer Jewish friends compared to my non-Jewish friends. I am Jewish in terms of affiliation, and I am Jewish in terms of ambition.”
Musk defended the X platform, which he owns, as a place where freedom of expression thrives, stating that the free exchange of ideas ultimately helps counteract hatred. He pointed out that the Nazis closed down press and information freedom.
He said, “The overall goal of the X platform is to be the best source of truth in the world,” adding, “The relentless pursuit of truth is the goal with X and allowing people to say what they want to say, even if it is controversial, as long as it does not violate the law.”
