After allegations from associates that drug use is affecting his behaviors, explaining somewhat his contradictory views, unfiltered speeches, and provocative actions, American billionaire Elon Musk has broken his silence and responded to these claims.
Refusing to let these statements slide, the “Tesla owner” took to his X platform, criticizing the “Wall Street Journal,” which reported on the matter, and confirming that he agreed to NASA’s request for random drug testing over a period of three years.
Emphasizing that not even trace amounts of any drugs or alcohol were found, Musk clarified that NASA’s request came after he smoked marijuana on comedian Joe Rogan’s show in 2018. Musk also deemed TMZ, a celebrity news outlet that first appeared on November 8, 2005, more important than the “Wall Street Journal.”
Despite his firm denial, Musk announced that if these “drugs” were to improve his productivity, he would definitely take them, according to him.
These tweets came in response to a report by the Wall Street Journal, stating that some executives and board members in Musk’s companies (such as Tesla and SpaceX) and others close to him have recently expressed ongoing concerns about another element affecting his behavior—his drug use. If confirmed, this could have severe consequences not only on his health but also on the six companies and billions of assets he oversees, according to informed sources.
These accusations followed testimonies that the world’s richest person had used LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and hallucinogenic mushrooms, often at private parties around the world, where attendees sign nondisclosure agreements or surrender their phones for entry, according to witnesses familiar with his drug use and others aware of it.
People close to Musk stated that his drug use, especially the use of ketamine, continues, and they worry it may cause a health crisis.
Even if that doesn’t happen, it could still harm his businesses, according to them.
It’s worth noting that some executives and board members in Musk’s companies (Tesla, SpaceX, etc.) and others close to him have recently expressed ongoing concerns about another element affecting his behavior—his drug use.
While Musk and his supporters have offered various explanations, attributing these behaviors to his creativity, mental health challenges, the consequences of stress he’s under, or sleep deprivation, concerns persist.
Musk has previously admitted to using ketamine to treat depression.
In response, Musk’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, confirmed that his client has never failed a drug test, criticizing the report for mentioning “false facts” without specifying them.
