Deel, a leading global company in remote human resources and recruitment, has conducted a recent study revealing substantial growth in artificial intelligence (AI) related jobs on a global scale. This growth encompasses both the increasing number of hired employees and the expanding pool of companies actively seeking professionals in the AI field. The study, spanning until September 2023, identified over 5,000 active contracts in AI, data science, and software engineering. More than 2,100 organizations participated in hiring initiatives for these domains, surpassing growth expectations and indicating a rising demand for skills and competencies in the realm of artificial intelligence.
The study, conducted by Deel to assess the escalating impact of AI on employment opportunities globally, underscores that the observed growth in AI-related jobs is a phenomenon with a universal footprint. In recent years, AI has emerged as a driving force in the business landscape, ushering in significant transformations across various industries and sectors in both the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and around the world. Tarek Salam, Head of Management at Deel Middle East and North Africa, noted the platform’s crucial role in connecting regional companies with the necessary skills and talents essential for maintaining leadership in innovation. He emphasized the platform’s provision of services enabling companies to access top AI specialists and experts worldwide, facilitating their development in this dynamic field.
The study’s findings highlight key trends in AI, software engineering, and data science fields from September 2021 to September 2023. Notably, there has been a 60% increase in the number of AI-related jobs, with salaries processed through the Deel platform. Furthermore, there is a 59% surge in the number of companies actively supporting jobs in AI, software engineering, and data science. The United States emerges as the dominant player in the AI job market, with Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany following suit. In terms of AI talent recruitment, Canada takes the lead, trailed by India, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The study indicates that AI talent recruitment is experiencing remarkable global growth, driven by trends such as the rapid adoption of AI technologies. Legal and financial services associated with recruitment have played a facilitative role, allowing AI experts the flexibility to work from any location globally.
