Computer Bild magazine reported on the importance of considering several key points when using surveillance cameras. It is recommended to install surveillance cameras slightly elevated to obtain a good overall view and to prevent intruders from easily removing them. Additionally, the lens should be free, and the camera should cover the entire area to be monitored, according to the German news agency.
The magazine tested 8 models of surveillance cameras available in the market: 5 cameras for indoor use and 3 models for outdoor surveillance.
The “S 350” camera from Eufy, designed for indoor use, topped the test results, while the best-performing and cost-effective model was the “E 1” camera from Aqara.
Outdoor surveillance cameras usually come at a higher cost but are resistant to wind, rain, dust, and cold. The top performer in this category was the “Pro 5” model from Arlo, while the best camera in terms of performance and cost was the “Stick Up Cam Pro” from Ring.
Smart surveillance cameras are registered on the home network, and users can continuously access the camera image on their smartphones. They typically operate in power-saving standby mode and only capture footage when motion is detected within their coverage range.
Most surveillance cameras can be integrated with voice assistant applications such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home, but customers may need to pay additional costs or subscription fees for additional services. Some companies also require additional fees for cloud storage.
Some indoor surveillance cameras operate solely on power cables, requiring them to be plugged into electrical outlets. Outdoor surveillance cameras may operate on cables or batteries in some cases.
The battery replacement feature allows for flexible installation of surveillance cameras, but users must consider battery replacement schedules to ensure smooth monitoring service. Therefore, the second battery should be charged when the first battery is in use.
