“Baldur’s Gate 3,” an immersive video game inspired by the “Dungeons and Dragons” universe, secured the title of Best Video Game for the year 2023 at an awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Developed by Larian Studios, the game unfolds in a fantastical realm teeming with wizards, elves, barbarians, and diverse characters. Swen Vincke, the founder and director of the company, expressed gratitude upon accepting the award, emphasizing the dedicated efforts of the Larian team over the past six years, often navigating challenging circumstances.
Vincke, donned in armor reminiscent of the game’s characters, stood out as a testament to the widespread acclaim the game has garnered since its launch in early August.
“Alan Wake 2” clinched two awards for Best Direction and Best Narrative Script at the Game Awards 2023. Created by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games, the game revolves around a successful writer’s attempts to escape an alternate dimension.
The awards ceremony, attended by celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey and Timothy Chalamet, also featured an exciting announcement from renowned video game creator Hideo Kojima. Kojima revealed plans to collaborate with actor and director Jordan Peele on a new game titled “Au De.” Kojima emphasized the collaboration with Xbox Studios from Microsoft and its cloud computing team, describing the upcoming game as a unique adventure that transcends traditional gaming experiences.
Kojima added, “It’s a game, make no mistake, but simultaneously, it’s a film—a novel form of multimedia.”
