Apple has officially announced the release of its Vision Pro mixed reality glasses, set to hit the markets by early February, with pre-orders opening on January 19. The Vision Pro glasses come equipped with the Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band, enhancing the user experience. The package includes cushions for facial stability, a front cover for protection, a polishing cloth, battery, USB-C charging cable, and a power adapter.
The glasses allow users to opt for ZEISS-manufactured prescription lenses, catering to reading glasses at $99 or corrective lenses for vision impairments at $149, as mentioned in the official statement. Apple previously unveiled these glasses in July, introducing users to mixed reality experiences that seamlessly blend the real world with digital elements, featuring hand gestures and voice commands without the need for physical controllers.
Positioned as a “Spatial Computer,” the glasses offer users complete interaction with their APIs without the constraints of a physical screen or control tools. The glass interface, housed in a robust aluminum frame, incorporates five sensors, a display screen, an advanced cooling system, and 12 camera sensors capturing one billion pixels per second for an immersive real-world view.
The visionOS operating system powers the digital interface, allowing easy app access through a simultaneous press of the thumb and forefinger. Users can scroll within apps by moving their hand up and down and control the glasses through voice commands. Apple assures users access to over a million popular apps already available on iOS and iPadOS. Additionally, the glasses support Spatial Video, enabling users to interactively relive memories.
