Apple has outlined a set of conditions that must be met by U.S. users interested in submitting early purchase requests for its smart glasses, the ‘Verge Pro,’ as the order window opened on January 19th.
According to MacRumors, the conditions include users owning an iPhone or iPad equipped with Face ID capability. Users are required to digitally scan their faces in a three-dimensional format through Apple’s official App Store application.
The facial scan process relies on the front camera of iPhones and iPads via the App Store app, helping Apple determine the user’s head and face measurements to provide appropriately sized straps and facial mounting components for the glasses.
Apple has also mandated updating the “App Store” application to the latest version, released on January 11th, which features the three-dimensional facial scan capability.
Additionally, Apple requested customers interested in purchasing its ‘Verge Pro’ glasses to undergo a recent vision test if they wish to equip their glasses with corrective lenses. In an email sent to customers in the United States, Apple clarified that it won’t be able to provide vision correction lenses for all sizes.
Apple is currently facing one of its most challenging marketing endeavors, aiming to persuade customers to buy its smart glasses at a price of $3,499 with limited battery life, a bulky design, and a lack of compatible applications at the initial launch.
