The Samsung Galaxy S23 achieved a new sales and pre-booking record for the company in India, with 250,000 units sold by January 23 after its release on January 18. This marks the accomplishment within just 3 days.
In Europe, James Kito, Deputy Sales Manager at Samsung, confirmed the phone’s success, surpassing their expectations by exceeding total pre-booking orders for the Galaxy S23 within just 7 days.
The widespread demand for the new Samsung phones is attributed to the public’s enthusiasm for artificial intelligence features, despite these features being rudimentary and primitive, available in many third-party apps. Samsung managed to integrate them directly into the phone’s system for easier access.
Samsung’s new artificial intelligence features in the Galaxy S23 primarily focus on improving image quality and instant translation in various forms, a feature also offered by Google in Pixel 8 phones.
While these features are important and unique for many users, they only scratch the surface of artificial intelligence capabilities, ranging from instant translation and photo editing to becoming a full-fledged personal assistant and professional photographer available on the phone.
It is expected that user demand for phones harnessing artificial intelligence capabilities in various aspects will increase as these features evolve to connect various services and transform into comprehensive personal assistants, as seen in Google Assistant or Siri, which were absent from the artificial intelligence scene for a long time.
Apple recognizes the importance of artificial intelligence in the battle for the future and attracting users, hence diligently working since last year to develop its own leading artificial intelligence model, according to several reports from Bloomberg and other international newspapers.
Samsung boasts the success it achieved in the artificial intelligence sector as if it were solely its own, but in reality, there is a hidden partner in this success, as Qualcomm’s leading artificial intelligence chips significantly enhanced Samsung’s capabilities.
Despite Samsung manufacturing its own chips and offering the same features, Qualcomm chips currently lead in the field of artificial intelligence alongside Apple and Google, surpassing the combined importance of the latter two manufacturers because Qualcomm’s clients from phone manufacturers are much larger than Apple and Google combined.
This importance became apparent since the announcement of the third generation of “Gen 8” chips by the company. Even before revealing the artificial intelligence features in Samsung, the company promoted the existence of artificial intelligence features in its chips.
Qualcomm’s introduction of these features paves the way for all phone manufacturers to enter this sector, as the company will only need to acquire Qualcomm chips for use in artificial intelligence and provide some software features that are easy to develop.
In the artificial intelligence chip race, it cannot be said that dominance lies with a specific company, as all companies collectively contribute to pushing this wheel forward, clearly evident through the technical momentum provided by the three giants in the chip sector: Apple, Google, and Qualcomm.
Apple continues to keep its artificial intelligence technologies secret, but it is working extensively to develop them, which was evident since introducing chips for computers supporting these features extensively. The announcement of these features after development and mastery remains pending.
