There’s a warning from iPhone devices that users should never ignore or disable altogether, as it’s crucial for their well-being, despite being disliked by most users, according to The Sun.
Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches have a special feature that tracks the volume of users’ music and warns them if they’re listening to music too loudly in general.
This alert was designed to protect them from sound that could permanently affect their hearing. Apple explained that “listening to sound through headphones at high volumes for a long period can damage your hearing.”
Headphones notifications allow users to know if they’ve been exposed to loud sound for a sufficient period to impact their hearing, for example, “over 80 decibels for a total of 40 hours in the last 7 days.”
If you’re wearing headphones, your iPhone can warn you when “you’ve exceeded 100% of the exposure limit for 7 days.” Upon receiving the notification, you’ll be asked to lower the volume, and after receiving the notification, the volume will automatically be set to a lower level the next time you connect or pair your headphones via Bluetooth.
However, in some countries and regions, it’s impossible to enable these notifications. Apple says this is due to safety regulations and standards. Some users can also turn it off by going to Settings, then Sounds & Haptics, and then Headphone Safety.
Many users have expressed annoyance at this frequent warning when raising the volume too high. Nevertheless, it’s not advisable for users to disable these notifications. One user, who disabled the notification, wrote on the X platform: “If you think the warning notifications are annoying, wait until you have endless ringing in your ears.” Another said, “I always wanted to get rid of the notifications, always turning the volume up to the maximum while exercising. Now, after disabling them, I suffer from constant ringing in my ears and feel uncomfortable most of the time.” One advised, “Take care of your hearing, these notifications are not a joke. There’s no reason to hate this notification, I just want to warn you.”
