The personal computer market showcased new experiences at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, with companies competing to impress users with exceptional performance and innovative designs, aiming to enhance productivity and make devices more practical.
This year, companies focused on making their devices lighter and featuring distinctive designs, along with providing non-traditional additions to enhance user productivity.
Omen Transcend 14 by HP:
HP set a goal with its new laptop, the Omen Transcend 14, to make it the world’s lightest in the gaming laptop sector with a 14-inch screen.
The new laptop weighs 1.6 kilograms, making it lighter than the Apple MacBook Pro with the same screen size by 45 grams. However, HP did not compromise on outstanding performance. The laptop is equipped with a 14th-gen Intel Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 9 processor, depending on the user’s choice, along with up to 32 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM and an Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card.
The Omen Transcend 14 comes with four data transfer ports, two USB-A and two USB-C, and is equipped with the latest wireless communication technologies, including WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The laptop delivers exceptional performance thanks to a processing unit responsible for some graphics-related tasks. With the new Intel processor, it intervenes to relieve the graphics card burden, ensuring smooth multitasking that requires substantial graphics processing power. The device offers an excellent display quality with an OLED screen, 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a brightness of up to 500 nits, and the ability to display 100% of the diverse DCI-P3 color gamut.
HP paid attention to a distinctive keyboard design that caters to gaming enthusiasts, supporting RGB backlit lighting, bringing it to life with vibrant colors. The starting price for the new laptop is $1600, and it is expected to hit the markets in the first quarter of this year.
Asus introduces the Zenbook Duo 2024 this year, featuring two 14-inch screens, with one of them equipped with a keyboard and Trackpad.
The new laptop offers multiple usage modes, including Dual Screen, allowing users to use the laptop with the screens vertically aligned while relying on the keyboard and Trackpad for typing, browsing, and control. The second mode is Desktop Mode, where the screens are horizontally aligned. The third mode is Sharing, which completely eliminates the use of the Bluetooth-enabled keyboard, allowing each user to have a separate screen for viewing content or information.
These innovations presented at CES 2024 highlight the continuous efforts of PC manufacturers to push the boundaries of technology, providing users with enhanced experiences and versatile devices.
