Giant South Korean electronics companies, Samsung and LG, are set to revolutionize home entertainment with the introduction of transparent, sleek, and smart screens in the coming months, according to a report by Agence France-Presse.
During a press event showcasing the “Signature OLED T” device scheduled for later this year, an LG executive asked the audience, “What if you had a screen that gives you space?” He welcomed everyone to a world that goes beyond the ideal screen, on the eve of the official launch at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
LG emphasized that the new screen becomes practically invisible when turned off, seamlessly blending with the room’s decor. Resembling a transparent rectangular box, the television provides high-definition viewing as soon as it is powered on.
This TV can also display realistic images, such as flames, fish tanks, and more, making it a piece of home decor. Similarly, Samsung presented its own transparent screen, equipped with dual light-emitting diode (LED) arrays for high-definition images.
Samsung stated in a release that the transparent LED arrays are set to redefine visual experiences, making it practically impossible to distinguish the line between imagination and reality.
In addition to Samsung and LG, the giant Chinese electronics company TCL revealed a series of traditional models, including a massive 115-inch (292 centimeters vertically) television. Large screens have always been a star attraction at the annual CES event in Las Vegas, a key showcase in the industry.
