Samsung announced its plans for 2024 in a New Year’s speech delivered by the company’s executives at its headquarters in Suwon, South Korea. Samsung stated its commitment to developing “cutting-edge technologies” to maintain its competitiveness in 2024 and beyond, emphasizing technological excellence and the ability to adapt to future changes.
The company’s CEOs emphasized adopting a “customer-first” strategy in mobile phones, home appliances, and software development, with a focus on performance and quality. They urged the company’s divisions to take proactive measures to address future changes, such as artificial intelligence and environmentally friendly practices, while advocating for the use of generative artificial intelligence in their work.
The executives encouraged the semiconductor industry sector within the company to enhance its market position by expanding the technological gap with competitors. This sector faced a decline in demand for semiconductors, experiencing its first financial loss in 14 years in 2023, estimated at $10 billion.
The new strategy’s initial glimpses were revealed with Samsung’s announcement of the upcoming Galaxy S24 smartphones. These devices will feature various artificial intelligence-related enhancements, including versions with Samsung’s new Exynos 2400 processor, as the company completely abandoned its processors in the Galaxy S23 series in favor of Qualcomm processors.
