Samsung is gearing up to introduce a groundbreaking feature in its upcoming Galaxy S24 series, enabling real-time translation of phone calls, as reported by Nikkei Asia.
The translation of phone calls will occur through the integrated virtual phone app on the devices, utilizing their processors and leveraging Samsung’s proprietary artificial intelligence model named “GAUSS.”
Scheduled to be unveiled alongside the flagship Galaxy S24 phones in January, this innovative feature focuses on facilitating instant translation during voice calls. It aims to bridge language gaps for users seamlessly and promptly, eliminating the need for intermediaries.
Upon its launch, the service will cater to a substantial user base, initially supporting languages such as English and Spanish, with plans to expand to include Korean, Japanese, and others.
As per the insights from Nikkei Asia, the AI-driven call translation functionality is not limited to Samsung phones; it will also extend its support to smartphones from other manufacturers. Both participants in the call will experience real-time voice translation, and the translated text will be displayed on the screens of Galaxy S24 devices.
Samsung had earlier introduced language-processing AI technology at developer events in November of the previous year, expressing its intent to seamlessly integrate this technology into its product lineup.
