Users of the recently launched “iPhone 15” are expressing dissatisfaction with the phone’s alarm function, citing issues with its proper functioning. The culprit may be an undisclosed feature in the iOS 17 operating system, causing interference with the clock app’s alerts.
As reported by the British Daily Mail, iPhone owners have reported setting the alarm multiple times at varying intervals, ranging from two to five minutes, only to find that the alarm fails to activate on every occasion.
One Reddit user shared, “My alarm goes off only at 6:45 AM, and upon waking up, I discovered that all the previous alarm times were correctly set but failed to produce any sound.”
The user posed the question, “Has anyone else encountered problems with their alarms failing to go off in the morning in this manner?”
All users experiencing the issue have confirmed that they did not unintentionally disable any of their alarms in the morning.
Another Reddit user posted a screenshot of their alarm app, revealing that only the alarm set for 6:48 AM actually triggered in the morning, despite configuring and activating multiple alarms prior to that time.
Speculation arises among users, with one suggesting that the problem might stem from an obscure setting called “Attention Aware” in the iOS 17 system. This feature enables the phone to detect when the user is attentive, leading the phone to assume the user is already awake and consequently bypassing the need for the alarm to sound.
Although this issue may be exasperating, resolving it is relatively straightforward. To ensure proper alarm functionality, users can disable “Attention Aware” in their iPhone settings under “Face ID & Attention,” and also check the audio controls in Accessibility settings.
By deactivating this feature, the phone will no longer assume the user is awake in the morning, preventing any further alarms from being silenced. If this approach proves ineffective, some users suggest disabling “StandBy mode” on the latest iPhone models.
To deactivate StandBy mode, navigate to Settings and then StandBy, where users can easily turn off the feature and confirm that alarms are set to activate at the designated time.
