Samsung is set to launch its new phone, the Galaxy S24, on January 17, 2024, with pre-orders opening the following day, as reported by the Korean newspaper The Elec. The phones are expected to reach users between January 26 and 30, with prices aligning with Samsung’s Galaxy S23 pricing. The S24 is expected to start at $900, while the flagship S24 Ultra will begin at $1200.
The new flagship Galaxy S24 phones are anticipated to feature a traditional design with clearly flat screen edges, showing no significant changes compared to the previous year. The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera is expected to undergo a major upgrade, featuring the main lens with a Samsung HP2SX sensor, an f/1.3 aperture, and a pixel size of 0.6 microns. The ultra-wide second lens will have a 12-megapixel resolution with a Sony IMX564 sensor, an f/2.55 aperture, and a pixel size of 1.4 microns. The third lens, with a 10-megapixel resolution, will offer three levels of optical zoom, featuring an IMX754+ sensor, an f/3.52 aperture, and a pixel size of 1.12 microns. The fourth lens will support five levels of optical zoom with a 48-megapixel resolution, a GMU sensor, an f/2.25 aperture, and a pixel size of 0.8 microns.
Samsung seems to be pursuing a new marketing strategy with the Galaxy S24 series to increase brand presence in the mobile phone market. A recent leak revealed a collaboration with Instagram, introducing a feature allowing direct access to the Instagram Camera from the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s lock screen. Images captured this way will bear the “Share By Samsung” label, promoting the Samsung brand more widely, with expectations of increased photo sharing on Instagram through this feature.
