YouTube has launched a test for a set of new features for subscribers of its premium package, “YouTube Premium,” including an AI-powered chatbot.
According to an official statement, Premium subscribers will be able to engage with the new chatbot available under selected videos, allowing them to ask general questions about YouTube or receive recommendations tailored to their preferences.
A new “Ask” button appears below supported videos, enabling users to ask any question about the content, or they can click on suggested prompts and questions that appear below the text box if they’re unsure where to start.
YouTube also introduces a useful feature that uses artificial intelligence to summarize and condense comments, making it easier for users and channel owners to navigate comments quickly and efficiently.
The new Ask feature will be available to users aged 18 and older on Android and iPhone phones on a trial basis from November 15 to December 15.
YouTube has also expanded the availability of viewing videos in premium quality (1080p) for more devices. Initially available for iPhones, it now extends to Android, the web, and smart TVs.
Additionally, the video platform has widened the capability of cross-device watch continuation. Originally launched for smartphones in April, it is now accessible on tablets, smart TVs, and the web. Users can start watching on one device and continue on another, as long as they are logged into YouTube Premium on both devices using the same account. The service has also added distinguishing badges for subscribers based on their continuous use of the platform.
