Elon Musk, the American billionaire, announced on Sunday his plan to integrate his artificial intelligence startup, “XAI,” into the “X” social media platform that he owns.
Musk mentioned that the new AI chat program will not only be embedded in the X application but will also be available as a standalone application.
Since Musk’s initial announcement of XAI in July, the precise objectives of the company and its activities over the past five months haven’t been explicitly detailed.
According to its online presence, XAI is focused on “understanding the true nature of the universe.”
In a separate announcement on Sunday, Musk unveiled that the startup has introduced its first artificial intelligence model named “GROK” for some “X Premium” subscribers, an enhanced service aimed at improving conversation quality on the X platform.
Reuters reports that XAI is developing artificial intelligence tools “to assist humanity in its pursuit of understanding and knowledge,” and “GROK” is specifically designed to provide intelligent responses to questions.
XAI’s system is in competition with Google’s “BERT” tool and Microsoft’s “Bing.”
Musk shared that the “GROK” model has real-time access to information across the X platform, presenting a “significant advantage compared to other models.”
Musk also highlighted that “GROK” possesses a sense of humor and answers questions “with a touch of wit,” assuring that it will respond to “controversial questions rejected by most other artificial intelligence systems.”
It’s important to note that the GROK system is still in the experimental phase but will eventually be accessible to a broader audience of subscribers on the “X” platform.
During a conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Musk expressed his belief that artificial intelligence represents “the most destructive force in history.” At the inaugural global summit on artificial intelligence safety in England, Musk predicted that this technology has the potential to “accomplish everything” and could reshape traditional employment practices.
