In pursuit of user satisfaction, the instant messaging platform “WhatsApp” has unveiled a new feature enabling users to send voice messages that can be heard only once, vanishing upon playback. The platform has introduced this feature to enhance privacy by allowing the secure sharing of sensitive information through voice messages without the risk of leakage.
WhatsApp initially launched the “View Once” feature in 2021, permitting users to share photos and videos that automatically disappear after being viewed. Subsequently, the platform extended this functionality to encompass voice messages, ensuring a more cohesive experience within the application.
When the “View Once” feature is activated for voice messages, they are not stored on the recipient’s device. They cannot be replayed, forwarded, marked, or shared in any manner, expiring if left unopened for 14 days.
It’s noteworthy that voice messages are inherently encrypted using end-to-end encryption, aligning with the security measures applied to other messages and calls within the application.
WhatsApp has confirmed that this innovative feature will be globally available in the coming days.
